Help a three‑generation whānau rebuild their lives after losing their family home and belongings in a house fire

Wellington, Kapiti Coast District

Aroha mai, aroha atu — Community Support Needed

A three‑generational whānau — Grandpa, Grandma, (Janet and Peter Ryan) Mum, Dad, (Paul and Maria Devereux) and their three daughters, and two beloved dogs lost their home, while half are at a different location, and the rest of them have temporary accommodation on the property, the fire took their main family home, and the space they’re in now isn’t suitable for long‑term living. They lost their family home, vehicles and all of their personal belongings. There was only insurance on the two cars.

We are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt. The family is safe, but they are heartbroken, it was a home filled with more than just memories.

Their church, direct family, friends and wider community have wrapped around them with immediate support, and this fund has been set up to help with their long‑term and ongoing needs as they rebuild their lives.

We want to express our deepest thanks to their close church whānau, friends, neighbours, and the amazing emergency services who responded with such care.

If you have items or other donations to offer, please contact us here or via Facebook. We also have a drop‑off point available for anything you wish to contribute.

Ngā mihi nui for every act of kindness and support.

Krystal’s space   23 January 2026

Things are now underway to get Krystal a room. As a youth/young adult, having her own space again is so important — a place that’s hers, with her own things — especially after losing everything in the fire at her parents’ home.

Because she’s starting completely from scratch, the hope is to fill her room with new items that belong just to her, helping create a space of comfort and stability as she continues to heal from an extremely traumatic time.

If you would like to koha toward rebuilding Krystal’s room, you’re welcome to do so — just note “For Krystal’s room”. The whānau are deeply grateful for every bit of support, and most importantly, for your ongoing prayers.

Ngā mihi nui.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
