Fundraising to rent disabled accommodation for car crash victim recovering from 2 broken lower legs for 6 - 8 weeks until she can get home.
Nelson
11 weeks ago Lee's life was irreparably altered when a speeding car crossed the center line causing a head on collision. First responders took 2.5 hours to cut her free from her vehicle during which time she stopped breathing requiring resuscitation. Her beloved chihuahua Kaylee was killed on impact adding to Lee's trauma but was fortunately survived by all 5 puppies present.
Lee was discharged from Nelson Hospital at 10 weeks post accident without anywhere long term to go, limited funds & has been relying on the generosity of family & friends. Lee lives on an island in the Marlborough Sounds & isn't realistically able to return there (accessible by boat only) until she has recovered further, increasing her mobility. In the meantime immediate options relevant to her situation have been explored but have been completely unsuitable for her needs.
Lee needs funds for disabled accommodation; a bed & en suite where she can place her commode & shower chair to toilet & shower safely. She is able to walk short distances assisted with a walker or crutches, stand for short periods to fix a snack or make a hot drink & tonight cooked her first meal since the accident.
It is very stressful for Lee not knowing where she is going from one night to the next not wanting to impose too much on the existing generosity of friends & fam. She's not in a financial position to fund much for herself. A few of us are pitching in here & there with what we can when we can. Now at motor camp. Please help.
I'm a friend of Lee's. We met 30 years ago working in the Cancer Genetics Lab, Otago University in Dunedin. We both had toddler aged sons & hit it off immediately. Lee is a ray of sunshine, has a beautiful smile, a HUGE heart & is generous to a fault.
Rent of suitable accommodation for 6 - 8 weeks allowing Lee to continue car crash recovery in a safe space. A place with bed & en suite where she can place her commode & shower chair to toilet & shower safely. Dog friendly; chihuahua puppy, toilet trained.
