Please Support Doe's Recovery in Auckland. Helping us take care of Destiny 4, JD 17 & Angel 19 at home. Flights for children to see Dad.
Milton, Otago
3-4 years ago Doe was a Kai provider, a person who did anything to help whānau, friends, kaumātua.
2018 Clutha hospital diagnosed Doe with severe COPD. He was referred to Dunedin Hospital where they said he would be a good candidate for a lungs transplant.
Doe's health would deteriorate. He would struggle with breathing, coughing, walking less and less. He was unable to do a lot of everyday things without support and in Dec 2020 Doe was put on 24hr Oxygen.
May 2021 we were asked to attend an apt in Auckland to meet the transplant team for assessment. In July Doe was accepted onto the active transplant list.
3 Dec 9.45-9.56pm calls saying they have potential lungs for Doe. We were to fly to Auckland at midnight to get ready for the transplant in the morning.
Those calls were the start of a change in all of our lives. Doe had the transplant on Sat the 4th Dec 2021 and is currently still in the CVICU. There is a long way for him to go in his recovery could be over 3mths.
Please help us during his recovery in Auckland. Doe would love to see our children. I have to pay for accommodation, flights for them to visit. Food, travel and anything Doe needs during his time in Auckland.
$ to help with accommodation, food, travel cost, anything Doe needs during his recovery. Help with looking after our children back in Otago, give them Christmas, and flights to see Dad during recovery.

We still have visit to Auckland often for check ups. When doing so, life is as normal, paying bills and food for the children at home. With the added cost of food for us in Auckland and sometimes a motel.
