Dre's unfortunate event

Dog requires costly surgery due to broken bottles left by thoughtless people.

Cromwell, Otago

My wonderful friend Briearnah (who is herself involved with dog fostering and rehoming through wandering angels sanctuary) has had a bit of a turbulent couple of days with her own sweet pooch Dre.

While taking Dre for a off leash run in Cromwell, Central Otago near the motorcross track off Cemetery road and Connelly way;

Dre unfortunately has cut his leg open and cut right through his tendon on large amounts of broken glass bottles and shredded cans left by very inconsiderate buggers.

Now after Christmas and New years (all while still looking after her dogs and others people's dogs that need assistance during this holiday period) she now has inccured the large cost of possible amputation at worst, bone fusion to save some weight bearing use of the leg or possibly try to reattach the tendons.

Brie is one of the most giving, selfless people I have ever met helping out anyone who asks or needs it in the community and I hope that the community can pull together to help assist Brie during this stressful time.

Briearnah has been an amazing friend and support to myself when I moved to Cromwell and many others when they meet her.

Dre has his surgery on Thursday which went well, the clinic took great care with him and he seems much happier!

The injury was worse than initially expected requiring a bone graft from the shoulder to fill in the leg along with a plate joining the bones together.

Dre is happy to be home, back in his bed and doing a lot of snoozing!

This isn’t the end however, we still have crate rest, no jumping/running/playing, weekly rebandaging, check up x-rays, suture removal, and a careful walking schedule to rebuild the muscle in the leg over many many weeks!

Thank you all for your support, the givealittle is due to close 1st February and the funds will go towards his surgery cost so thank you everyone!
