Supporting the George Family

Waipapa, Northland

As you all may know one of our staff member's had an accident on Sunday 4th February 2024. 14yr old Stacy was swimming with his friend's and family at a local spot in Haruru on the outskirts of Paihia. Stacy has proceeded to jump into the water, has hit his head which caused his C5 vertebrae to shatter, he was pulled from the water unconscious. Stacy was flown to Starship Hospital via rescue helicopter. Stacy has had 2 surgeries to date, one to replace the shattered vertebrae and the second to place rods in to help with keeping his spine still. At the moment we are unsure if Stacy will regain movement in his arms and legs as it is early days. Stacy is a vibrant, humble, compassionate, hardworking young man who we have all adopted here as our own. His mum Tash also works with us so as you can imagine life is pretty scary for her and her family at the moment. This journey is going to be long and slow, we as their work family are trying to do as much as we can to take the pressure off them, hence the reason for setting up this Go Fund me page. Along with us here, Tash and her family are loved by many. I know times are tough for everyone at the moment so any little bit helps. We have set this up in hopes that it can ease a little pressure on this family, so they don't have to worry about how they are going to pay bills etc. Sending healing vibes!!

A message from mum (Natasha)  7 March 2024

Hi Ya. We made it to the Ward yesterday. He is still being monitored. Heart, lungs and neck wound are our major concerns. But we made it. Feeding tube hopefully out by the end of the week but only because he can't eat with the tube in. He feels something is always getting stuck around it. We have an emergency plan in place if his heart drops again but it has been stable all week. Catheter is draining nicely and no more concerns with that one. Physico will be our next challenge and having a shower. No new areas of movement yet. Still wrists, elbows, shoulders and neck. This week we will work on more time spent in his chair. Twice a day for 2 hours. Overall he's doing really well and he sends his love.
