Ernest and Jacqui Wessel- they need our support!
Provide community support for Ernest and Jacqui after he experienced a major stroke at 56 years. Ernest needs 24/7 care at home in CromwellOtago
Ernest (Ernie) had a major stroke on June 16th , 2020, at age 56 years. He's alive, but is now left with significant cognitive issues and left sided weakness.
Ernest is a qualified builder and emigrated with Jacqui and the family from South Africa 13 years ago to give their children a better future. He has always been a healthy and active man and yet now he's having to learn to walk and talk again with assistance.
He's due to come back home in a few weeks from rehabilitation, and he is going to need ongoing care and support, together with his wife Jacqui.
Jacqui works as a carer at Ripponburn Home and Hospital in Cromwell, and yet she now also faces caring for her husband Ernest 24/7. They have three grown children in New Zealand, with one of them local in Cromwell. Their extended family are back home in South Africa.
Can we as a community become like their family, and provide them with the support they will need after this devastating event?

Use of funds
House alterations and renovations for mobility needs, house maintenance.
Transport costs for care needs, "getting out", activities for Ernest, and activities for Ernie and Jacqui as a couple.
Ka Pai. Thank you for all your support. It is very encouraging for Jacqui and Ernie.
Ernie is at Dunstan hospital receiving further rehabilitation before coming home. Jacqui is changing her life to become the main carer and holding the responsibility for them both including financial. Due to an administrative error there is no insurance for them. If you can help them to rebuild their lives and have financial options long term then this would be awesome.
Thanks Jackie and team for your amazing support
