Felix, Our Beautiful 5 month old Catahoula

Tonight, while we were on our way back from Auckland Airport, my daughter, Hinemoas, 5 month old Catahoula was hit by a car outside our house. We think he jumped over the baby gate (inside the house) and then jumped the front fence to try and find his mother. My son saw him and called to him and he ran out onto the road and was struck by a car on Cameron Road in Tauranga. I know it was not the cars fault he was on the road, but they didn't stop or slow down to check if he was ok.. they just kept going. He is currently at the vet in Bethlehem, and we have been told that he has three options. To operate and put a plate in his leg, to amputate his leg or to euthanize. The cost for Felix up until now is $570 for initial visit, xrays, pain relief, antibiotics and nights in hospital. We've been quoted $1500-2000 for the surgery. My poor daughter is heart broken as this is her baby and he is spending the night at the vets while we decide what we can do. The first option is what we want do, but it comes down to what we can do. I know it will cost lots, and that we may not be able to save his leg, but my heart hurts to see them both in so much pain so I want to be able to do as much as I can. I am praying for a Christmas miracle tonight for Hinemoa and Felix and I thank you so much for your time, your thoughts and your prayers.
