After a devastating fire, The Shroom Room Cafe is asking our community to donate the cost of a coffee to help support staff.
Lyttelton, Canterbury
A devastating fire has destroyed our family cafe, but not even the flames could burn out the heart of The Shroom Room Cafe.
For the past 12 years, the passion poured into The Shroom Room by our family has created a much loved Lyttelton local.
Tragically, a devastating fire has destroyed the cafe we worked so hard to build, and in a matter of hours, years of dedication, memories, and dreams were reduced to ashes.
The cafe will likely be closed for quite some time while we recover from the damage, and our incredible staff have suddenly been left without work.
Unfortunately, there is no insurance payout available for this loss. Right now our focus is on supporting our staff and dealing with the immediate aftermath of the fire.
We're asking our community to donate the price of a coffee, or whatever you can spare, to help us support our amazing staff.
Every contribution towards our tip jar right now helps keep the spirit of our much loved community cafe alive. Whatever you can spare truly means the world to us.
To our customers over the years, thank you for supporting us, sharing your stories of how much you have enjoyed our space, and for helping to bring a little bit of light to us during this difficult time.
With peace, love, and gratitude,
The Shroom Room 🍄
For our family, The Shroom Room was like another family member. We all grew alongside it, loved it, and cared for it. But for my mum, it was her life for 12 years. This is for her, for my mum. To support her, to show up for her, to thank her.
All funds raised through this fundraiser will be distributed among our staff to help support them and to cover lost wages while they navigate this unexpected period of unemployment and uncertainty.
