APPEAL to support Francis and his family at this most difficult time of their lives

Auckland

April 6, 2018. What started out to be just an ordinary Friday ended up being a day that changed the life of Francis and his family. He had a seizure while at home and collapsed in front of his kids.

After several tests in the hospital, we learned that Francis has a brain tumour the size of an orange. Based on its location this primary tumour was operable and they wanted to do surgery as soon as they could. The tumour has also already spread to other parts of the brain which were inoperable; if removed it could paralyze him.

There were no warning signs there was a tumour in his brain.

The surgery was scheduled for that coming Wednesday. The surgery went well. We were shocked he was awake and talking when in recovery. A few days later we learned about the tumour. Since brain tumours are measured in grades based on how aggressive they are vs. stages like other cancers, his was Grade 3 meaning it was moderately aggressive.

The next step is a 6-week daily radiation to remove parts of the tumour in the motor part of the brain which was inoperable.

A support system from friends can help the family go through these difficult times. Francis is the sole financial provider and is always a great protector of his family. A devoted father who has lived this hidden life of virtue sacrificing a lot to give his wife and six children the best life. His surgery and radiation therapy will prevent him from driving his truck daily for at least one year and will make him reliant on others. Not being able to provide for his family due to his illness gives him great grief.

Are you able to help us? Your contributions will go directly to:

-quickly providing the vital support the family needs to stay afloat and to meet daily needs

-assist in all other expenses while the family is temporarily unable to pay bills, like house payments, transportation, school expenses etc.

-assist in some medical expenses as well as some costs related to prescription medications

To my Bread of Life & Manurewa Choir family  24 April 2018

Francis and I and our whole family would like to extend our gratitude for all the support we have received from you. Francis had no symptom whatsoever beforehand of the existence of the brain tumour, apart from the seizure on April 6. Surgery is over but he will be undergoing further treatments. That means he will be out of action for a while and will be relying on me and the kids for care and support.

We are truly humbled by your compassion and generosity. It means a lot to us and we will hold all your love deep in our hearts as we focus on his recovery. Thank you so much once again. We love you. ❤ Francis and Jing Gallego

We were sad to stumble upon this news Francis. We don't often understand why these things happen to good people like you, but we do understand that God is always with us, especially through our toughest journeys. My family are praying for you, Ate Jing and the kids. Good luck with the recovery!
