SURGERY FUNDRAISER FOR MATHEW! Mathew has just had a full amputation of his right rear leg after being found with an accidental amputation.
Auckland
We received a call from a local business in 2014 about 2 stray cats living on their premises. They were happy to continue feeding them, and the cats were safe and happy. We desexed and microchipped them both, and returned them. But unfortunately one disappeared straight away....
Turn forward 4 years - we received a call from the SPCA saying one of our cats had been taken in. Screening out database for his microchip we were absolutely amazed it was him!!! He had suffered an accidental amputation of one foot during that time, which was covered in open wounds, but obviously very old. We suspect he had caught his foot in a trap :-(
We took him to Millwater Vet who said he needed a full amputation otherwise he would suffer a lifetime of pain - so no questions asked he went in for immediate surgery.
Mathew has been a street cat all of his life. He is currently in foster care, but has never been inside a house, and the world is overwhelming for him. But - he is comfortable, pain free, and gaining confidence every day!
We are fundraising to cover his surgery costs needed to ensure he has a chance for a long, and happy life. He will stay in foster care with us until we can find a suitable and loving new home for him.
Gutter Kitties is Auckland largest no-kill cat rescue.
A non-profit Charitable Trust, we rely entirely on donations and fundraising to do the endless work we do to make a difference to those with no voice.
Money raised is to pay off the veterinary bill for Mathews surgery.
