Generation Ignite Food Bank

Providing healthy, hearty food parcels each week to families with food insecurity, living within the Whau Community.

Auckland

Everybody needs a hand sometimes.

The Generation Ignite Food Bank is an initiative of Generation Ignite Trust, a registered charitable youth trust in West Auckland. Our Community Food Bank was birthed out of the need we recognised with our young people and their families in the Whau Community (Avondale, New Lynn, Kelston, Green Bay, New Windsor and Blockhouse Bay).

Each Friday our amazing team of volunteers pack food parcels at Storage King in New Lynn and then distribute them from the New Lynn Community Centre - also providing a free lunch to the community. These food parcels contain all the ingredients to make a healthy, hearty meal, plus a few extras.

Between June and November of 2015 we distributed 394 food parcels to our community; these food parcels allowed us to feed 1,518 people. This is just the beginning.

Use of funds

[How you can help us]

To continue providing food parcels each week to those in need within our community, we desperately need your partnership. Any donation, big or small, would be greatly received and appreciated, and used to purchase staple food ingredients, long shelf life products, hygiene products and meat, to sustain our food parcels.
