Donate to help Alizae get to the Globe Theatre in London!!
Christchurch, Canterbury
Alizae has been selected to represent New Zealand's prestigious Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company in July 2026 for two weeks of tutorials and workshops - but she needs to raise $16,000 to get there!
Growing up in Hornby, Christchurch, even travelling internationally seemed totally out of reach for Alizae and her whānau - let alone representing her country.
But she's been supported to dream and aim high through teachers at Hornby High School who saw her potential, and through support from our Longitudinal Whanau Support programme at Te Whare Awhero Hope House.
Last year she was selected to travel to Wellington along with 50 students from around the country to attend SGCNZ National Shakespeares school production. Following 2 weeks of classes Alizae found out she had been selected as one of 25 students to head to England in 2026.
But the cost of the trip means it is still way out of reach for Alizae and her whānau.
She needs to raise about $12500 to cover flights, accommodation, course fees and expenses for the trip in July, plus another $4000 for her mum, Stacey, to travel with her.
Alizae and her friends at Hornby High School are doing their best to fundraise for the trip.
PAK'nSAVE Hornby is running a fundraiser April 13-19, donating the sale price of mini donuts sold over the week.
Alizae and some of her friends will also be at The Hub Hornby on Tues 14th performing in the mall at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm to raise funds.
Alizae is grateful for any support!
Our goal is to bring hope to those in need – it’s our underlying mission and drive at Te Whare Awhero (Hope House).
We have worked as a charity in Hornby for more than 30 years providing counselling, community support and school-based support services
Covering costs of the trip incl: flights, pre-travel requirements like passports, accom and costs while in London plus any extra would support her mum to travel with her
We did it! 2 June 2026
Thanks to your support, both Alizae and her mum have tickets booked to London, ready to make her Globe Theatre dream a reality!
Here's a message to you all from Alizae's mum:
"Thank you guys so much for everything this means the world supporting Alizae's dream and aspirations and giving hope to other kids and even adults to show what is possible.
This is a dream come true for my daughter who has worked extremely hard but still would have been so far-fetched to reach her goal of getting her over to London and represent our beautiful country New Zealand.
The outpouring of community support has blown both Alizae and I away because you and your team believed in her and gave my daughter a chance and said YES you would help without hesitation it has restored my faith in people and community."
Thank you all for your generosity!
