Ryan McCarthy, a family man, school teacher, coach and CrossFit athlete, is New Zealand's fittest 40-44 year old. And now he has been invited as one of the worlds top 20 fittest 40-44 year old's, to test himself at the Worldwide CrossFit Games, in USA.

Qualifying in 5th place from over 15,000 competitors, Ryan has earned his way to represent New Zealand at the CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin from July 27th to August 1st, 2021. To do this Ryan has had to compete in numerous events and prove he is 1of the top 20 in his age group in the world! This is an achievement few kiwis ever reach and to have a kiwi represent us in the battle of the World's Fittest is one we should be proud of.

CrossFit in New Zealand is not governed by a central body. This means our athletes cannot apply for elite athlete funding or obtain any money from any grants or charitable trusts.

As you can imagine - not only is Ryan having to personally pay all expenses (flights, airfares, accommodation, meals etc) and take leave from work, he is currently liable for an additional $3000 fee for managed isolation on his return to New Zealand due to Covid-19, making it even more difficult financially.

However, its an opportunity not to be missed and Ryan is committed to representing New Zealand at The Games.

We need your help to get him there. As a friend, fellow CrossFitter, colleague, family member or just someone keen to see a good kiwi battler achieve his dream, please consider donating to Ryan's cause. He wouldn't ask himself - so we are doing it for him. Any amount, regardless of how small would be gratefully accepted, it all adds up and your support could make all the difference.

5 Weeks until Departure 14 June 2021

Hi Everyone.

Its now just a little over 5 weeks until Ryan departs to head up to the CrossFit Games.

Ryan's training has ramped up considerably as his coach moves him into "Games training" but Ryan tells me he is coping well.

On the fundraising side the Give-a-Little page is still having dribs and drabs come in - which is perfect! Every little bit helps and people are so generous with their donations and well wishes.

However, the page doesnt close until July and we still have 3 weeks left to give this one last little push. So, can I please ask a favour of you, one last thing you can do to help Ryan.
