Kelleigh Burkett is a gorgeous young Mum with Metastatic Breast Cancer and she needs your help to access treatment overseas.
Nationwide
After a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, Kelleigh had remained cancer-free until 12 months ago.
With the cancer now in her brain, spine and liver, the 42-year-old has just made the very tough decision to move to Sydney for an indefinite period, away from her husband and three young daughters, so she can take part in a ground breaking worldwide drug trial.
The trial could give Kelleigh another few years to spend with her three beautiful girls and her husband. But the family needs your help to cover the costs of running two households on either side of the Tasman for now, and to ensure Kelleigh's daughters (5, 8 and 10) can visit their mum while she is living in Australia.
This is her last resort to "survive" but Kelleigh's participation could also change the future for all with breast cancer. Imagine that!
As Kelleigh says: “The reason I am doing this trial is not only to give myself some more time but to give hope to all the women and men living with terminal breast cancer that someday we will have more targeted therapy to prolong our lives."
Please donate generously to enable Kelleigh to live in Australia while she takes part in this trial. Your donation will keep this family together and strong, and make a world of difference.
Update from Kelleigh 6 December 2014
Good news I had Chemo today not long been home after 8 hours at the hospital. I don't normally post stuff like this. But when I arrived at the Hospital to see my oncologist he informed me that he had the best joke about kiwis , he proceeded to bring up an email from his son who lives in New York. He showed me joke on his phone, we would have been in fits of laughter for more than 10 minutes. I don't think I have ever had such a laugh with an oncologist of all people. My just loved it, it made me feel normal. Thank you prof Freidlander xxxx
