Help us attend a musical theatre course in NYC. We will be the first from New Zealand to attend the iTheatrics Junior Theatre Academy.
Canterbury
Lily Shields and Abby Meynell are both 14 year olds from Timaru, New Zealand - a small town of just under 30,000 people, but these two girls are punching above their weight and are dreaming big - successfully auditioning for "iTheatrics Junior Theatre Academy" in New York City to train and learn from some of the top Musical Theatre professionals on Broadway, as well as get the chance to workshop a new iTheatrics Broadway Jr title before publication. This will not only give them valuable skills but also allow them to see how new Musical Theatre works are developed, and to be a part of this exciting process. This will be the first time anyone from New Zealand will be attending this course, and they were among over 550 students who auditioned from around the USA with only 270 chosen to attend one of the six workshops held during June, July and August. This is a fantastic opportunity for these girls and one that they have worked very hard for over the last few years - building up their skills, technique and experience in Musical Theatre.
Both Lily and Abby are my singing students and I want to be able to give my students the best opportunities for pursuing their dreams and gaining valuable skills and experiences to assist in this. This experience will be a wonderful opportunity for them to learn from some of Broadway's talented directors, choreographers, and musical directors.
Funds will be used to pay for the course which is $NZ1000 each. As well as helping to pay for flights from Christchurch to New York City and back at around $NZ2400 each and accommodation in New York City while we are there.
