Help fund Michaela's sick leave, as hers is limited and she needs to rest and not worry!
Auckland
Our beautiful friend and colleague has been pulled out of her teaching job with the distressing news that she has Leukaemia. Her sick leave runs out early next term, and after years of doing a fabulous job looking after the hearts and minds of hundreds of students at Belmont Primary, she now needs our help. She will be MORTIFIED this page has been set up, but we are acting on her behalf to make her relaxed as is at all possible about being at home while she receives relentless treatment, and is on forced isolation due to her zero immunity.
We are Michaela's friends and colleagues, who love her and feel concerned. Our community is supporting her, Filipo and her boys as much as we possibly can.
Also, 24 staff members at Belmont Primary are running various events in The Auckland Marathon on 30 October in a team called Miki's Movers. We actively teach 'resilience' and 'growth mindset' at Belmont, so our thinking is that Michaela has a challenge ahead of her, so we should have one too!
Extending the closing date for this page... 11 October 2016
Because Michaela will be on sick leave for the start of next year, we have asked Givealittle to extend the end date to 30 June 2017 to help keep supporting her while she is on leave.
