This page is for an awesome wife, mother and teacher who wants more time with her family.

I am 44 years old and have spent the last 16 months trying to win a battle with a rare cancer, Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma. This cancer has very poor survival rates, there is no known cure other than surgery which has already failed.
Last year a large tumour grew from my bile duct into my liver and into my inferior vena cava (IVC). I was given “months” if I did not have a risky surgery - 70% liver resection, reconstruction of my inferior vena cava, bile ducts and veins. Complications followed ranging from a life-threatening drug reaction, to a pleural effusion.
After this, I had 6 months of chemo and 5 weeks of chemoradiation.
My IVC has since become severely restricted which is physically limiting as there is a lack of blood providing oxygen to my muscles.
After 4 months off treatment the tumours are back. Surgeons have deemed these inoperable, a tumour is sitting on the one remaining hepatic vein, any damage would be fatal.
I am back on chemo to buy myself 9-15 months. I need to pay to have my tumour tested and subsequently fund drugs available overseas. In NZ, certain cancers are monitored, tested and treated. Mine is not and it is so unjust.
I am a mum and a teacher and two weeks ago I had to call time on my 20-year career, I don’t want the same for motherhood.
Help me fight this, help me buy more time with my husband and children, please help me to see my children finish high school.
I will not be able to thank you enough but know that my family and I will never forget.

Biomarker testing and treatment that isn't funded in New Zealand.
Pembrolizumab or Durvalumab immunotherapies or Pemigatinib target treatment, these would be dependent on biomarker test results.

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone that has supported us in this fight.
With all your valuable contributions we have been able to get Anke's tumour tested. Part of the tumour managed to get a holiday in Boston for a few weeks and the results are back. The biomarker test came back with a couple of gene mutations but there are currently no known treatments available for these. The immunotherapy test was also unfavourable with no effective immunotherapies being available for Anke's cancer.
Whilst the tumour was having a nice break in Boston, Anke has been undergoing chemo for the last 3 months. The latest scan has indicated that it has possibly stalled the progression but the efficacy is likely to wain as treatment continues.
Our only real remaining option if the current regime fails is one other type of chemo.
After that it becomes a trial and error exercise with any of the other available chemos.
Not great news but we can only play the hand that we're dealt.
Thank you again for all the support.
