Fundraising for treatment to help Nick fight melanoma.
Wellsford, Auckland
Hi, my name is kylie and I’m raising funds to give my husband more hope and time with his family. Nick was diagnosed with a stage 5 melanoma nodule on his lip in 2016, when our daughter Gracelyn was 6 months old and our son Jack was 2 years old . Unfortunately, the melanoma was not treated correctly at the time and this allowed the melanoma infiltrate into his jaw and wrap around the trigeminal nerve. From there it has spread to the sack in the brain and other facial nerves. He has undergone surgery twice on his mouth and neck to remove infected tissue with the disease and to remove lymph nodes. In 2019 he underwent 20 rounds of radiation to no avail before starting his current treatment Keytruda. For 3 years Keytruda halted the progression and we could breathe a little. Unfortunately, Keytruda is no longer working and we have been given two costly choices to keep him with us. The less affective treatment is $30,000 and the more powerful treatment is $80,000, although the advice has been to use both treatments for maximum effect given how aggressive this melanoma is. Any extra funds raised will cover unforseen medical expenses. Jack in now 8 and Gracelyn is 6. Nick desperately wants to live and to be here for as long as possible to see his kids grow up. Any help you could offer would change our lives. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.

Update 12 November 2023
Hi all, so our update. The new medication continues to work and we continue to get better results in nick in many ways. He is out of bed far more and avke to spend more and more time with the kids, doing v things outside the house. Just recently he was able to attend an o er night Camp with Jack, which was amazing for the both of them. Nick was the cook and loved every bit of helping and spending time with Jack's and his friends. We still continue to raise money for his scripts. We are almost at the end, the end lag is the hardest when you've given everything you had for the race it gets tiring toward the end but definitely worth it in every way. Pic of chef nick at camp. Thank you all for everything you've done for us and continue to do for us. We love and appreciate you all. 🖤
