I'm raising money for my daughter who has cancer - Rhabdomyosarcoma
Auckland
I would just like to thank everyone who donated for there kindness for donating to Grace. We never reached the big target but that is okay as she can still make some dreams come true with the money which has being donated. It's the end of the Give A Little campaign and so Grace has now shaved my head. So now I am completely bald too. We are now like twins! Ha Ha. Thanks again everyone for your support and kindness!
My daughter Grace got diagnosed with cancer on 17th March 2021.
She has Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a type of cancer that affects soft tissues. She developed a tumor larger than an avocado.
She's already had three operations. In the first two it was too large or dangerous to operate on.
The surgeons removed liquid from her bone marrow and took samples to make sure it hadn't spread to the skeletal region. They drained fluid to relieve her pain. Another procedure was to insert the port into her chest where she would receive the chemotherapy.
Her cancer is most common in children and adolescents. The disease starts in the mesenchymal cells, which are cells that turn into muscle. With rhabdomyosarcoma, the cells change and grow out of control, forming one or more tumors.
In another op they successfully removed most of her Tumor, but treatment is ongoing and expected to last at least a year into early 2022.
Along with chemo she is to receive 23 days in a row of intensive Radiation therapy.
Grace has many dreams and any and all funds will go to Grace to make what ever dreams she has come true for when she is well again. One such special dream of hers is a trip to Australia. She also wants to save up for a car that she would like one day. Like any teenager who likes to keep up with fashion she likes shopping :) And I'm sure by the time this journey ends and snhe is well again I am sure she will add other wishes or dreams to her list.
Gracie is completely bald at the moment due to the Chemo.
One day her hair will grow back but I have decided to have my head shaved at the end of November to help raise awareness and to raise funds for her.
It is my attention that Grace will shave my hair off at the end of this Give A Little campaign.
1: If target reached: All funds would go to Grace to make her dreams come true and take her on dream holiday to Australia she's always wanted.
2: If more than enough is reached: Grace will be able to help others.
3: If not enough money is raised: What ever money raised would still bring happiness to a girl going through so much.
Grace Shaves Dad's Head For Cancer & Now We Are Twins 28 November 2021
Right at the beginning of this give a little page campaign I said that Grace asked me to shave all her hair off when it was falling out in chunks. I t was all going to fall out eventually, but she asked me to make her head look at least some what tidier. And then decided after walking Lucky our dog one day, that she would prefer it completely shaved off. I said yeas I would do it, but only on one condition . . . and that was at the end of the campaign, which is the end of November she was to shave all my hair off. Well did that today Sunday the 28th November as I won't see her on her birthday Monday the 29th as I have a big job on in the city.
So I am posting those picture and one of me wearing one of her wigs, that makes me look more like a hippy ha ha! : )
I would like to thank you on behalf of Grace and myself for your very kind and generous donation. Grace's treatment is on going and will continue into 2022. She is a brave little girl and when she is well again your kindness will help bring some dreams come true for her. Thank you once again. Nick
