Help Megan and her family while she recovers from a life saving Liver Transplant
Auckland
My niece Megan nearly 13 was born with Biliary Atresia, and is currently in hospital after having a life saving liver transplant. Megan will need to remain in Auckland for the next 2 to 3 months between Starship Childrens Hospital and close by at Ronald McDonald House while she recovers and receives the care she needs post transplant. Any funds we raise will help my sister and brother in law to ensure their bills and living costs are paid, essential items while they are away from home and not able to work while they support Megans recovery, petrol between their home town in Dargaville and Auckland for her Dad and siblings to be able to visit once Megan is stable and support her and her Mum during this difficult time. Any help to relieve these financial strains would be very much appreciated so they can remain together and focus on Megan's recovery will be very much appreciated and gratefully received.
Megan is my beautiful, kind, funny, resilient, brave and strong niece
Funds raised will support Crystal and Bernie and their family to ensure essential living costs can be paid while Megan is recovering and during their long 2-3 month stay in Auckland away from their home. Bills, mortgage, food, travel.
1 Month in already!!! 12 March 2022
Hi all, Megan is now 1 month post transplant and going from strength to strength. Already the fun energetic child that was slowly disappearing before her transplant is back! At clinic on Thursday last, after getting her dressing off, she said to her Gastro team, "Look what I can do!!" And proceeded to jump around the room! Apparently a few concerned faces to begin with, wondering if she was going to undo all their hard work! Again we cannot express our gratitude to the team at Starship enough, as well as the staff at RMH for giving Megan and Crystal a safe home away from home while Megan recovers. Once again, Thank-you to everyone who donated to this page, your contribution makes the task of effectively running two households that much easier, especially given the recent cost of living increases. Megan's liver functions have all normalized now, despite a short bout of rejection in week two and I will never get tired of looking at Megan's clear white eyes, after years of them being yellow tinged! Hopefully only a few more weeks apart for the family and then back to the comforts of home,
Cheers
Bernie and Crystal.
