Can you Give A Little - So I can continue to Give A Lot to help the animals that saved my life?
Auckland
I have been fortunate to have been involved with horses from a very early age for over 30 years now in many aspects of the equine industry. I have gathered lots of experience and some good qualifications on the way, which has led to my mission in life to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home horses. For over 20 years I have been doing this amazing life changing experience , unfortunately, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of horses that are in poor condition and in desperate need of good care. It has got to the stage now, where I cannot take on every horse that I am contacted about; I simply don't have the finances to do so.
“Sometimes an owner just needs some advice or options, and I’m happy to do that. “But it is hard to say no.”
Some horses are in dire straits when I hear about them – starving, sick, abused or abandoned, while others are what I would call “hand-overs”, when the owner simply can’t look after their horse anymore.
When I take on a horse I do so for the horses well being - Once the horses are rehabilitated, which for some means getting them to the stage where they can be handled, for others returning them to full health and some are just needing a new direction in life. I do my best look for good homes for them. There is a rehoming fee for these horses but that doesn't in any way cover the amount of money that I have put into these horses for things like- feed costs, vet bills, farrier costs, dental, covers, etc The rehoming fee goes straight back into providing food and care, for the other horses I am providing care for.
“I certainly am non-profit – looking after and maintaining one horse let alone a paddock full some with ongoing issues definitely keeps the piggy bank light. This isn't and has never been a way for me to make money. In fact I loss more than I gain. I quite often go without to make sure these horses have that medication or bag of feed that they need. But It is getting harder and harder every day to make ends meet as the price's of everything rises.
People ask why I continue to do what I'm doing? because this is my passion, horses have saved my life, and now it's my turn in some small way to give back and help these magnificent animals out.
I just need a little hand to keep doing this, If kiwis can Give A Little- this will help me to continue to Give A Lot. :)
Any donations no matter the size will be used solely to cover the necessary costs associated with rehabilitating horses that have been left in a poor condition, abused, or neglected, getting them back up to tip-top condition and rehoming to great homes.
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU. 23 December 2020
Massive thankyou to all that have made donations to help with these gorgeous horses.
The give a little has officially closed. But if u want to keep seeing updates of the horses please head over to my FB page L M Goodall.
I will still be needing your amazing support and donations to continue helping the 9 horses I still have and the massive vet bill thanks to Leti unsuccessfully climbing an 8 wire fence and leaving hlf of her skin behind. She's doing really really well. Thanks again for all the love and support.
