Gracie is an amazing young woman, living independently, who needs financial support to receive treatment for multiple health conditions.
Wellington
Grace is a caring, resilient, hard-working young woman who suffers from many chronic conditions that need life-time assessing, monitoring and treatment.
Grace is a full-time 3rd year university student, she works part time at Huffer, and receives a Student loan to pay for her expenses, rent, utilities etc. Because of Grace’s determination and resilience, she works and studies to ensure she is living independently from her family.
However, her continuous medical appointments, consultations, and subsequent treatments are hindering her independence, which is affecting her level of autonomy.
Grace’s GP is starting a new medical plan, with weekly appointments, to involve Specialist care. Six referrals are being made (approx $700 per initial appointment, an hour appointment is needed, $350 per half hour, as Gracie's medical needs are so complex. The treatments and medication will incur more costs.
1. Gastroenterologist-IBS/Crohn’s disease
2. Respirologist/Asthma Specialist (chronic)
3. Neurologist-Centralised Pain Syndrome (CPS)
4. Dermatologist-Eczema/Allergies (chronic)
5. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) Specialist
6. Immunologist/Allergist (Treatment = $10,000+)
Grace spent the majority of her childhood in hospital and/or receiving treatment for chronic asthma, allergies, eczema, CPS & CRPS.
While Grace was at high school, she received Immunotherapy for 3 years. The allergen vials were 2.5 ml, which family ordered privately ($700 each order), the monthly Immunologist apt was $150. This treatment cost Grace’s family $15000. Grace still needs immunotherapy for pollen ($10,000).
Grace continuously experiences symptoms from her conditions, and is determined to not let them hinder her everyday life, and needs Specialist care to help improve her quality of life.
Grace had an extreme case of chicken pox when she was 4 years old, which damaged her Central Nervous System (CNS). This damage to her nerves throughout her body, lead to a condition, Central Pain Syndrome (CPS), which causes burning, pain, tingling, numbness to her entire body, including debilitating headaches. During 2019, Grace sprained her right ankle, & she developed CRPS. She still experiences burning, numbness and pain from that original injury, and is still needing a brace for support.
I am Gracie's mother, and have been there for all of her medical needs, and will continue to support her, as she aims to have autonomy for her health, like every other area of her life.

Updated goal for Gracie's treatments 18 June 2021
Grace has to see six specialists for diagnosis, and subsequent treatments, including medications and procedures. The first $4950 (minus fees) will be used for the first specialist for his appointments and the first procedure. Grace needs alot more donations/support to ensure she receives the care she deserves. The public health system has let her down for 20 years, and unfortunately she can only receive the care she needs through the private system. Grace has so much appreciation for every donation and message she receives xx
