Youth World Boxing Champs 2022 - Hamuera Tainui

New Zealand’s current number 1, and four-time New Zealand Champion from Woolston Boxing Club, Hamuera Tainui (Hamz) is selected to represent New Zealand at the Youth Worlds in Spain, August 2022.

Hamz started competing at 10 years old, representing Woolston Boxing Club like both is uncle and father before him. This incredible honour and opportunity to represent New Zealand is recognition of Hamz’ hard work, dedication, and technical ability.

We need to raise nearly $40,000 to get Hamz, his coach and manager to the Serbian Youth Golden Gloves in August & Youth World Boxing Championships in Spain in November, and we’re asking for your help to make this possible.

Every penny counts! The more support we receive from you, helps us to concentrate on the pathway and preparation required to get Hamz to stand on the podium in Spain.

When preparing for international competitions like The Youth Worlds, we need good exposure to high level competitors. Hamuera Tainui intends to travel to the Australian Golden Gloves in August 2022, departing from there to the Serbian Youth Golden Gloves, before going on to the Youth Worlds in Spain. Outside of this, we require a dedicated 6-month training camp to focus on boxing and the competition ahead.
