Help Amigos Peer Support Group share and connect with people

Wellington

Amigos Peer Support Group provides connection and support to Wellington's mental health lived experience community. We do this by providing coffee and activity groups during the week and on Saturdays. With the cost of living getting worse by the day many of our community struggle to pay for a coffee and life's simple pleasures like catching up in a cafe locally to share and connect with each other. With this in mind Amigos Peer Support Group is seeking donations to subsidize coffees at our coffee groups. You could give a small, medium or large donation to our cause and that is awesome. Any financial donation would be appreciated.

About us

Wellington After-Care Association Inc. (trading as Evaro) is one of the oldest charities in Wellington, providing services for adults with intellectual disabilities and mental health consumers for more than 95 years. We have three services in the Wellington region supporting people with disabilities. 1. Evaro, a day service focusing on life-skills and community participation. 2. Evaro Employment, a supported employment service working with individuals to gain and maintain paid employment in the mainstream workforce; and 3. Evaro Transition which supports the school students and their family/whanau to find positive life outcomes beyond secondary school.

What I get out of belonging to Amigos Peer Support Group  11 July 2026

"There are no other peer support groups in the Community like Amigos. Amigo's groups and events are an important part of my life and well-being. I have been attending groups and events for many years now and it is so important seeing familiar people and meeting new people in groups and feeling connected. You are always welcome and greeted and can be yourself especially if you are having an off day."

"Amigos has enabled me to grow as a person. I have gone from being a group member to a group leader and my self-confidence has skyrocketed. I feel I'm valued for being me."

--

"By being a part of Amigos I realise that despite my mental health challenges, I matter to someone, I matter to a group of people who I don't see everyday but I do see each week. Thank you Amigos."

--

"When you suffer from mental illness/distress you wonder whether that challenging life experience could help someone. At Amigos I've both shared my lived experience and others have shared theirs with me. And we have helped each other stay well."

"Amigos is my happy place."

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
