Lets help Benny the rescue dog fund his cruciate ligament surgery and recovery!
Auckland
Hey everyone!
Well those of you who know Benny-boo will know what an awesome character he is and how he loves a good solid adventure as well as pats, sniffs, snuggles and invading your personal space!
Sadly he's had a sore hind leg and has developed a bad limp which after X-rays its suspected that he's got a partial tear of his cruciate ligament (this is yet to be confirmed by a specialist). This whole process has turned out to be quite the expensive exercise that I was not quite prepared for. Luckily I do have some savings so I am able to cover some of it but I fear with specialist fees, a possible CAT scan and more x-rays and on going recovery and rehabilitation expenses that keep getting thrown at me, I am having to reach out to see if anyone is willing to help my old mate get back to adventuring, he's still got many years left in him and I would love for him to make the most of them, with your help!
I have had benny for approx 7 years, he's a rescue of unknown breeds, all I know is that he's the most amazing part of my life and I want him to live his best life!!
So far I have already spent approx $1500 in the last week on one consult and x-rays and I've had numbers thrown around of up to about $12,000 for this overall not including what I have spent already, quite a scary amount that I simply can't cover on my own so anything will help! So far I have already spent approx $1500 in the last week on one consult and x-rays and I only have so much savings.
Veterinarian and specialist consultations, X-rays, Cat scans, surgery, medication and any other on going medical bills relating to this operation
We have a surgery date! 5 December 2022
Hey everyone, first up Benny has been doing ok, he’s still sore and only using three legs but the pain killers are helping at least so I don’t think he’s too uncomfortable! I’ve been taking him for short 5 min walks to get his daily sniffs and also playing in a small capacity when possible.
As for the surgery date, that’s booked in for the 15th December and I should be able to take him home the same day, it will be 6 weeks of crate rest and toilet breaks on lead only, then we start with rehabilitation for the remainder 8 weeks, it’s going to a be a tough road so feel free to come give him some pats and a belly rub, he’ll appreciate it!!
Thanks again for everyone’s staggering generosity!!!
