Canterbury

Hello new Zealand, so friday night it was like any other friday my child was at her dads for the weekend and i was looking at up and coming things when i heard a cat cry, nothing like ive heard before, i searched the house found one of my other cats and through phew its just puffy hes fine now (stuck behind a closed door).

About 5mins later my other cat bino came in the cat door crying in alot of pain my first throught was he has been his by a car, i proceed with caution as he is fear screaming, he goes and sits awkardly by my daughters bedroom door which is closed, i chat eith him gain his trust he looks uo at me gave him a wee pat and he crys then walks away, i notice his legs are wider than normal, he goes to the fire place where we have a cat bed, he squats like he needs to pee, i watch him for a bit like what are you doing (he would be told to go outside) by the crys he is making i just let him.

I opened my daughters bedroom door and he wonders in, sits funny and cleans himself, i try to pat him to see if i can feel any abnormalities, he screams louder than ever and goes under her bed, he crys while his back touches her wooden bed, bino loves cat treats so i go to the cubboard get some out yet he doesnt come so things are getting serious, i move the bed to try get him out he just cries, i ring after hours explain all the symptoms they say bring him straight in sounds like he has been hit(we are a back section and cats never go near the road).

After gearing up gloves in all just to be safe i pick him uo and manage to get him into the cat cage he is just crying and i feel really bad hoping he hasnt got a broken bone. We get to after hours and we reluctantly let the vet take him away to see what is going on, we get called into a room and this is where we get told what is wrong.

He hasnt been hit by a car, im happy like yay he is going to be all good, she said its much more serious, im like he was fine when i went to work hapily cuddling me eating drinking what can go so badly wrong, he is 2 years old never had an issues he is fixed, we are told he has a blocked bladder, he has CRYSTALLURIA in his urethra, i feel instant pain for him how could he get this? why did he get this?

At this stage i have paid $180 just to be seen i gave the ok to give him pain meds so unsire how much that is, she tells me that there are two options we out him to sleep now or else we operate, i ask how much will that cost she tells me any where from $1500 to $2000, i break down how can a perfectly happy cat be put to sleep, i ask how much do you need right now another $700 so they can operate, i made the hardest decision how can i afford this? but its my fur baby how can i put him to sleep he is 2 years old so full of life so friendly i chose him as a kitten to join my family so i am determined to do all i can for bino.

I give the ok, here i am thinking he is in his cat cage, they open the door to the operating room, there is my cat with a polofleece blanket on him and his eyes are so big hes on amazing drugs right now, they joke and tell me he is seeing things to try lift the mood, i look around at the cages taking it all in, sadly bino isnt the only sick animal here, there are two dogs mtv one is paralyzed not able to walk the other was lucky escaped with no injuries, i relise im making the best choice if other people can save there pets i can too no matter what the cost.

I turn to bino try to give him my hair explain if you have shampooed your hair he will snuggle into you and make biscuits, he is the best cat, i say tearfully good byes she tells me it will be 1-1.5 hours and he will be on and iv and have a catheter stitches in for 24/48 hours, 7am comes around i call up all went well no more crystals, urine output is good, he had a nibble, i pop in and see him he is still in space but looking good, get told its now sitting at $1257 the longer he is in the more it goes up, i carry on saturday the best i can washing cars and planying potatoes to fundraise for bino, call saturday night he is on track, sunday mornjng rolls around my phone is ringing, the dreaded call come catheter was removed at 330 not long after he empties his bladdar, by 7 he is straining, they were hoping he would be home sunday morning they tell me to call 1,2pm today (sunday).

Thanks all for reading ill update when i know more.

Bino went missing  10 November 2018

Sorry about the lack of updates, so Tuesday 8/11/2018 I took bino to the vets and got told there is nothing more and best to put him to sleep as he isnt getting better we took him home for one last night of love.

On Wednesday 7/11/2018 we gave bino meds at 5am, when I got up at 7am he has managed to escape.

We spend all day Wednesday Thursday looking for him we went door knocking and searched everyones yards in sheds under bushes under decks even under the house.

Thursday night we were losing hope to find him alive when we got an update from a neighbour who had heard a cat cry just before the fire works so we went to that house and a lady there had seen him. We search her property and couldnt fond him, we went 4 more houses down still no sign.

Friday morning while I was showering I heard him meow so jaz ran outside and as the flat mate was going to work she spotted him. Jaz confirmed it was 100% him.

I was at course and jaz was at work all day so we decided to leave food every where to try get him home. I got home no sign of bino but a young black cat was on my spear bed.

After dinner we decided to call out to him and I heard his meow I couldnt be sure it was him so jaz got food and he jumped up the fence.

Jaz ran to the neighbors and managed to feed him and get ahold of him. Was touch and go as there is a fear distance between the properties (back sections).

She got him home and locked him in my room where he had a big feed and some lovely snuggles.

I woke up today to bino using the cat litter tray with no issues he just peed like a normal cat!!! I have booked him in for 915am Tuesday to see our regular vet Gemma as I didnt want to take him in right now as he is s normal and doesnt seem to have any issues, if anything changes I'll be taking him straight in.

Thanks for all the love and support so far we have a cat bill of over 2000 but with all your lovely help we have been able to cover half so far its fantastic
