To fund-raise for my journey to Canada, for the world champs, I am completing a solo crossing of Lake Taupo in my small Laser yacht.
Bay of Plenty
Hello my name is Blake Woodfield, I am a 15 year old sailor from Taupo, New Zealand. I have being sailing since the age of 9 and racing nationally since I was 10. My career highlights include being selected for the New Zealand development clinic in Noumea and representing NZ at the Asian Champs in Sri Lanka as a member of the NZ Optimist team. I am in year 11 at Tauhara College and currently race in the Laser Radial which is the Olympic women and youth mens' class.
I have recently gained selection to race for NZ in the World Youth Laser Championships in Kingston, Canada.
To fund-raise for my trip I am attempting a solo crossing of Lake Taupo, from the southern most point, Tokaanu, to the northern most point, Taupo. I believe I will be first person to attempt this in a 'centreboard dinghy' and also the youngest to cross solo.
Please follow my journey at: blakewoodfieldsailing.sitey.me
Fund-raising will go towards my flights, entry fee, boat charter and accommodation.
