Fundraising for Blossom to attend the TED Summer School in Singapore, July 2026.
Wellington
Hi, I’m Blossom and I am a finalist in the “Learning to Be Heard” Global Public Speaking Challenge, run by TED and Immerse Education. From a “record number of submissions from students across the globe”, I was selected as a finalist and was awarded a partial scholarship to attend TED Summer School. This is a two-week residential leadership and public speaking programme for students aged 15–18, held on a university campus (options in London, New York, or Singapore). I have chosen to attend the course in Singapore, as it is closer home, it would mean avoiding flying across the Middle East, and the cost to attend would be slightly lower. The date of this course is the 12th - 25th of July and payment made by the 1st of June.
Public speaking is something I am very passionate about. I believe strongly that it is important to speak on matters that aren't spoken about often but hugely impact people. To speak for those who can’t speak for themselves, but most importantly, to speak for yourself, to speak about things that you care about. Attending TED Summer School would mean I would receive world-class training that would increase my confidence, articulation, and technical skills. These are all things that will assist me on my speaking journey and enable me to give back to my community. I am especially excited to create and deliver my own TED style talk exploring the internalised thoughts and feelings of someone who has experienced racial marginalisation.
This page is being run by Blossom's mum, Esther.
Funds will cover the cost of the programme (£7,006.50), flights, transport within Singapore and meals. We are hopeful that the target will be met but if not funds donated will go towards sending Blossom to the TED summer school in Singapore 2026.
