Raising funds to get to France for the 2025 IAU world 24 hour championship
Hobsonville, Auckland
On Saturday 11th of May, I ran 195.52km in 24 hours as part of my attempt to qualify for the New Zealand ultra marathon team heading to France this October.
It's been a long journey already, and I'm proud to have been selected to be part of this 7 person strong men's team, representing Aotearoa on the world stage, alongside some of the biggest names in ultra running.
The estimated cost for travel, accommodation and gear comes to approximately $7000.
There's currently no athlete funding for ultra marathons through our national sporting body, so I'm hoping to raise about half of this cost with your support.
Every little bit helps, and I would be incredibly grateful for any contribution - big or small - to help me get to the start line in France.
Thank you for backing the journey.

Following on from the qualifier in May I have been battling a rather persistent IT band ache, taking some of the joy out of running.
It feels like it’s taken its time, but that’s an unfortunate part of recovering from injury… it takes time and thankfully it’s at a point where I’m back out and enjoying running again.
In addition to this, and much to the disgust of my wife, two toenails have finally decided to part ways with my foot. One of the many joys of ultra running. Being a professional foot model is not something in my future.
I’ve been really humbled by the support from the initial donations, a story in the local news paper and from my local run club (Early bird run crew - Hobsonville), who are hosting a pub quiz and a raffle with some amazing prizes to help get me to France.
If you would like to attend, or enter the raffle, search Early Bird Run Crew - Hobsonville on Facebook for more details.
