Please help us, to help Charlie live his best life possible as he fights Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer).
Auckland
Charlie (Prerogative) is a 5-year old retired racing Greyhound who came off the racecourse in November last year. In January this year, we fell in love with him and he came to his forever home.
Devastatingly, in April, Charlie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, bone cancer, in his front, left leg. We were absolutely shocked to be dealing with something this big so early in our journey with him, but also because he is still so young!
Following some discussions with our Vet, we opted for amputation of his leg. X-rays of his chest were clear and showed the disease had not yet reached his lungs.
Charlie is not 1 week post-amputation and is healing extremely well. He is adjusting to life on three limbs. We have opted not to have Chemo however have enrolled him in a medical trial run through Massey University. We are hoping this will benefit not only Charlie, but also other dogs in the future.
We would be so grateful for any support from the community towards his medical costs. This includes his surgical costs, ongoing vet appointments relating to monitoring and administration of the trial medications, and rehabilitation costs to help him adjust to life on three legs.
Please help us, to help Charlie live his best life possible.
Surgery costs from the amputation, ongoing vet appointments and rehabilitation therapy appointments.

Tonight, I took Charlie to meet Rochelle from Canine Healing Hands. She was so lovely and spent an hour with Charlie massaging his muscles that are adjusting to life on three legs. She was very impressed with how he’s coping and healing.
We are able to provide Charlie with this support thanks to all the generosity we have received from you all. Thank you so much for helping us to help Charlie live his best life ❤️
