Fundraising for unfunded anticancer drugs this will give Conrad more time with his loved ones and provide him with a better quality of life
Hamilton, Waikato
Conrad (46) has been diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. Conrad and his family, wife Yolandi and sons Conrad and Wiehan (currently without support of extended family in NZ) needs your help to buy him more time with his loved ones by raising funds for targeted anti-cancer treatment. Sadly, the drugs (Bevacizumab/Avastin or Cetuximab/Erbitux) are not funded in New Zealand and comes at an estimated cost of between $25 000 and $30 000 which he is unable to pay for himself.
Conrad has been fighting cancer since 2020 and has endured multiple surgeries, radiation treatments and chemotherapy to try and stop the cancer from spreading further. A PET CT scan in May this year confirmed multiple new nodules in his left lung as well as further metastasis in his bladder. These results have led to the surgical team deciding that any further surgical intervention would not be a feasible option anymore and thus Conrad has been declared terminally ill.
It is estimated that without chemotherapy Conrad will only have 6 months to live but with a combination of funded chemotherapy and non-funded targeted anti-cancer treatment, it will add substantially more time to be with his family.
Our aim is to fundraise enough funds so that Conrad can start with the combined therapy as soon as possible which would provide him with a better quality of life and buy more valuable time with his family.
We kindly plea for your kind support.

Conrad is a close friend from childhood, my golfing buddy, it's a heartbreaking situation to fully understand and it's cruel to think that money = time, it's unfair in so many ways. We are so grateful for everyone kind to support this page for Conrad.

UPDATE: Chemo and immunotherapy 2 February 2024
Hi friends, family & donors:
just a bit of an update regarding my current treatment plan. I have now completed 13 rounds of chemo and immunotherapy and have undergone a CT scan recently. The metastasis in my bladder has grown from 12mm to 22mm and the 3 x spots in my lungs have now grown further to 8mm, 6mm and 5mm respectively. Even with the further growth there has been no further spread and thus my disease is classified as stable.
The last couple of weeks have been quite testing with severe pain symptoms from the tumor in my bladder. Last week I ended up in the emergency department and was hospitalised twice in one week with severe pain due to my bladder cancer. I was referred to a specialist and underwent TURBT surgery yesterday, the urologist managed to scrape off most of the cancer in my bladder but there were places he could not reach. I have been referred for radiation to my bladder in an attempt to kill of the remaining cancer in the bladder.
We are still hopeful and will probably soon start with the second line of chemotherapy as it looks like the first line is not effective anymore. We are also pursuing alternative therapy in an attempt to curtail further spread and growth.
My family and I would like to thank all of our generous donors as we have been able to use your generosity to pay for unfunded treatment and ongoing alternative therapy.
Thank you for your continuous support, may God bless you all!
Conrad, Yolandi and Sons
