Help Cooper get mobile again

Cooper is an almost 8 year old Samoyed who is an integral part of our family and a much loved boy by the community around us.

18 months ago Cooper injured his cruciate ligament in his left knee and conservative treatment saw him gain good mobility. The additional weight on his right leg compensating for his left knee has seen the right knee tear completely and left him almost immobile.

X-rays show he needs TLPO surgery on that right knee or he will become completely lame given the left knee is not up to carrying the weight of both back legs. There is no choice other than surgery at this point.

TLPO surgery is where a modification is made to the tibia that stabilises the knee and resolves the lameness.

Blood results show that Cooper is otherwise healthy with good kidney and liver function - and a great many years left in him.

The surgery covers all sedation, surgery and 4 physio consultations following surgery and is approximately $7000.

I am on long term disability and that doesn’t give any room to move financially. This is a devastating outcome for my best friend and companion Cooper and I’m putting any ego aside to ask for any help you can give.

The surgery will be performed by animal orthopaedics Christchurch in ferrymead.

There is no alternative.
