Help Cooper the service dog

$4,120 of $7,000 goal
Given by 57 generous donors in around 3 months

We’re raising funds so Cooper, a deaf woman’s service dog, can have treatment and return to his important job.

Pegasus, Canterbury

Cooper is a small dog with a very big job. He is a trained service dog for his owner, Caroline, who is deaf. Cooper alerts her to sounds and helps her feel confident and safe going out for walks and managing day-to-day life.

Caroline and Cooper are best friends. Cooper injured the cruciate ligament in his hind leg. His knee is now uncomfortable, and he is unable to get around the way he needs to.

Surgery has been recommended as a good option for his comfort and long-term mobility.

Caroline can’t apply for another service dog while Cooper is still with her, so she is currently without his support.

The surgery comes at a cost, on top of the vet visits, medications and rehab Caroline has already paid for, plus his post-op care. She lives on a pensioner's income and anything towards his costs helps.

Our goal is to raise $7,000 to help cover Cooper’s surgery, some of the costs already incurred, his follow-up care and fees associated with his care. Every little bit will make a real difference to both Cooper and Caroline.

If you are able to donate or share, thank you so much for helping Cooper get the surgery he needs so he can walk comfortably again and return to his important role as Caroline’s service dog and best friend.

Use of funds

Funds will help pay for Cooper’s surgery, hospital and medication costs, a contribution to vet bills already incurred, essential post-op care, and any fees. As much as possible goes directly to Coopers care.

Thank you everyone ☺️🐾  10 December 2025

Thank you all so much for your incredibly kind donations and for sharing Cooper’s page so far. Every bit of support means the world to Caroline and Cooper.

We’re continuing with his rehabilitation and, once we know how much we’ve raised, Caroline can look at all the treatment options that are realistically affordable for Cooper.

Your generosity is helping keep those options open for him. Please keep sharing Cooper’s page and, if you’re able, donating makes a real difference. 🐾

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
