Supporting Ettiene’s Stage 4 cancer journey through double immunotherapy by helping cover hidden costs
Wellington
My cancer journey began in December 2023 with kidney cancer. My right kidney was removed, but the cancer metastasized to both lungs, and another tumor was found this week on my adrenal gland. It’s now classified as Stage 4 advanced cancer.
After over a year of monitoring with 6 weekly CT scans, blood tests, and oncology visits, my family and I—alongside my medical team—have chosen to begin Double Immunotherapy treatment. It starts on November 18, 2025, and will continue every 3 weeks for 2 years. The first 3 months involve double doses, followed by a single dose based on progress. CT scans are to be done every 3 months to monitor treatment.
While the treatment is government-funded, the hidden costs are significant - to name some is fuel, parking, meals, mental health support for my family, and potential income loss if I’m hospitalized or run out of leave.
Immunotherapy can also cause serious side effects, including inflammation of the liver, lungs, skin, and stomach, which may require urgent care and additional treatment.
Your donation will help cover these costs and ease the burden on my family. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
As a husband and father of 3 children, I ask that you support me with this massive task lying ahead for me and my family. I am positively going to beat this disease hands down.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
With gratitude

2 down 34 to go 10 December 2025
I’ve just completed my second round of treatment. It started off well, but towards the end, I had a reaction to the meds—my chest began to close up, and there was noticeable swelling around my neck. It was a scary moment, but the medical team was incredible. They acted quickly, giving me steroids and antihistamines to relieve the pressure and make me comfortable again. I was monitored closely and, thankfully, able to go home after a couple of hours.
So far, 2 down and 34 to go. It’s only the beginning, but already so much has happened in just three weeks. This journey is full of unexpected turns, but I’m grateful for the care and support around me.
Every step forward is a victory—one day, one treatment at a time.
