Briar Carter & Emily McNamara are fundraising for training and travel costs for the 2024 Junior Ultimate World Championships in England.
Hauraki, Auckland
Thank you so much for checking out our page - it means a lot to us!
We are two 17-year-old friends, from Takapuna Grammar School, who were recently selected in the NZ U20 Women's team for the World Junior Ultimate Championships! We are so excited! It is a dream come true to represent our country in a sport we love.
The frisbee tournament is over in England in July this year. This doesn't give us much time to fund-raise the money for the three pre-tournament training weekends, the travel, accommodation, meals, event registration, uniform, etc. for the 2 week trip to the UK.
We are both very focused and committed to our training. Over the past year we have trained together with a development squad made up of 40 players from around the country. We feel honoured and humbled to be selected in the group of 20 to go to the World Championships.
The collective cost of 3 intensive training weekends, plus the trip to compete at the World Championships (for both of us) is $19,200. We are aiming to fundraise as much as possible. As hard-working students with demanding training schedules, there is only limited time that we can commit to paid work. Any income we do manage to get from any part-time / casual work will go towards the travel fund. Given the time-frames we will fall well short of the required budget without fundraising assistance.
We would really appreciate any donations, large or small, to help us reach our goal and compete in England.
Thank you so much

The funds will be used for the cost of the preparation training camps and trip to England, including airfares, accommodation, meals, entry fees and uniform.
NZ U20’s 5th in the World!!! 29 July 2024
It’s been a massive week of hard fought games against the best in the world and now the Junior World Ultimate Frisbee Championships is over. We are so proud to say that we made history by placing 5th - the best ever result for a NZ U20 team (men or women).
The schedule was pretty brutal with two games most days. We won 5 and lost 3 and came back to beat Japan in a playoff for 5th and 6th, after they beat us in pool play. Games went as follows:
NZL 15 - 2 IRL
NZL 15 - 3 SGP
FRA 15 - 7 NZL
CAN 15 - 10 NZL
JPN 15 - 8 NZL
NZL 15 - 1 AUS
NZL 15 - 3 GBR
NZL 13 - 12 JPN
France won the Women’s Division beating USA in the final.
It has been such an awesome experience for us. We have pushed ourselves so hard against very tough international competition along-side our team mates and with the support of all of those around us. We’ve made some amazing friends and are so appreciative of the opportunity.
Thank you all so very much for helping make this happen! These are memories we will hold on to forever!
