Help Juno fight for her life! She is in a critical condition at Massey!
Wellington
Juno went in for a routine spay—something meant to be straightforward. But instead of bouncing back like she should have, she came out of surgery struggling to breathe through her nose.
At first, the vets didn't catch it in time. Over weeks, her nostrils completely closed due to scar tissue, preventing her from breathing properly. For a dog, this is life-threatening—she needs her nose to eat, sleep, and just exist comfortably.
After countless vet visits and referrals, it became clear what had happened—during surgery, she had regurgitated under anesthesia, causing burns inside her nasal cavity. Her body, trying to heal, formed scar tissue that blocked her airways.
Juno has already undergone surgery to reopen her nasal passages, using stents to keep them clear. But despite every effort, she managed to rip out a stitch—then, after a sedation at the vet, she tore out her stent as well.
Juno went back to the Specialist to have the stent properly reinstated and suffered further trauma with a broken bone in her nose and a brain bleed that has left her fighting for her life. We are all devastated and while Juno is fighting, so are we!
This is where you come in—if you can donate, no matter how much, you’ll be helping Juno get the urgent care she needs. Every dollar brings her closer to comfort, to relief, to breathing again.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
I am the breeder of this much loved German Spitz (Mittel), I am devastated that a routine procedure has gone so wrong.

The Road to Healing Continues 💛 11 June 2025
Juno has been home for just over a week now and is doing well in many ways — she’s more relaxed in her familiar space, enjoying cuddles, short outdoor breaks, and the comfort of being with her people again.
But despite all the progress, we’ve had some hard news: the nasal stents that were placed earlier in her journey have ultimately failed, and Juno is still suffering from significant stenosis (narrowing of the nasal passages). This means her ability to breathe freely through her nose is still compromised.
Right now, we’re working closely with her care team to figure out next steps. Another specialist consult is likely, and more treatment may be required. While it’s discouraging to face this setback after everything she’s been through, we remain focused on giving Juno every chance at a full and happy life.
Your support has carried us through so many tough moments. We can’t thank you enough for being part of her journey — please keep sharing her story and sending love her way.
Hi, Just a note to thank you from the bottom of our hearts and share an update on our beautiful wee girl, Juno. Despite the odds and advice to let her go, we saw a glimmer of hope and recognition in her eye and chose to fight alongside her for as long as it took. The vet bill was around $1,000 a day—and that’s where you came in. Your donations and messages gave us the strength to keep going. I read every single message to Juno while I was lying on the floor beside her hospital bed for weeks to make sure she knew you were in her corner too. Slowly, Juno began to recover. At times it was a minor improvement then a step back again. With lots and lots of intensive care and rehab (that remains ongoing), she’s now a happy little dog again. She has her independence, can come and go through her dog door in and out of the house, plays with her big sister, runs around, barks, snuggles lots, navigates stairs, jumps on the couch and on the bed to snuggle in for the night with us and her sister. She’s a little weaker on one side and has she limited vision in one eye, but she is such a miracle and makes the absolute most of every single day. Her resilience is truly inspiring. She has taught me a lot. There have been so many special people who helped along the way—and that includes you. Thank you. You didn’t just give a donation; you gave Juno, our beautiful little girl, her life back - and she is loving it. We will never forget your kindness. She was literally loved back to life again. I’ve attached some links that hopefully will work to show you how far she has come on her journey.
