Help Kim compete at Ironman 70.3 (half) World Championships in South Africa
Otago
My name is Kim Turner, I am a highly motivated and disciplined triathlete and runner based in Queenstown, New Zealand.
Last weekend (9th Dec) I competed at Ironman Taupo 70.3 (half ironman distance) triathlon in Taupo, New Zealand - my performance qualified me to compete at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in September.
This is absolutely an opportunity of a lifetime and I am dedicated to doing everything I can to be as prepared as possible to race my best race. I am all in! After coaching myself for 5 years in triathlon I am taking guidance from an amazing coach for this race so I can do my absolute best and achieve the time goals I know I am capable of. To be able to compete at this event I need to pay my own way and there are many costs involved.
I completed my first triathlon in November 2012 (surprising myself with a win!) and first half ironman in December 2012 and have been hooked since. My passion for this sport continues to grow each day, as does my desire to set and achieve even higher goals. 70.3 is my favourite distance and this is where I excel.
70.3 is the total mileage of the race - metrically that is a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and 21.1km (or half marathon) run.
I will be working hard to fundraise through other avenues in 2018, however for those just wanting to make a small donation this is the place to do it. And any support will be gratefully received.
Any funds raised will go towards the cost of competing in South Africa - race entry fee, travel and accommodation. There will also be ongoing costs of coaching, gym/pool memberships, training gear, bike maintenance etc. to ensure I can train hard!
April update 17 April 2018
Wow time is flying by and so is training. I have competed in 3 more races since my last update as part of training
Ruby swim 2.5km placed 3rd in my age group
Southern Lakes half marathon I ran a solid race and matched my PB time from the previous year, on half as much run training.
Kawarau River Run I ran a solid long run without pushing too hard.
Training is going really wwell - I am feeling much fitter and faster across all 3 disciplines.
Thank you so much for your support Don and Heather! It is amazing how unwavering it has been throughout my triathlon career
Thank you so much for your kind donation and your unwavering support
