Helping my 13-year-old son, Liam, represent New Zealand at the JKS World Karate Championships in Brazil in August 2026.
Auckland
Liam has qualified to represent New Zealand at the JKS World Karate Championships in Vitória, Brazil, in August 2026, a significant achievement for a 13-year-old athlete.
Three years ago, Liam moved to New Zealand from South Africa, leaving behind what was familiar and having to rebuild his life in a new country, school, and community. With over nine years of martial arts training, karate became a steady foundation during that transition. He continued his journey as a green belt and, through consistent training and discipline, progressed to 3rd Kyu.
Karate has played an important role in shaping Liam’s focus, resilience, and respect for others, both on and off the mat. Being selected to compete at a world championship reflects years of commitment and steady personal growth.
Any contribution, or simply sharing this page, helps support Liam in taking part in this opportunity.
My name is Charlene Koekemoer, and I am raising funds to support my son, Liam (13), as he prepares to represent New Zealand at the JKS World Karate Championships in Brazil in August 2026.
Competing internationally involves considerable costs. Funds raised will help cover:
