Camp Purple Live: Supporting Kiwi kids with IBD by building confidence, friendships, and helping them feel less alone in their journey.

Nationwide

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), are chronic autoimmune conditions that severely impact the digestive system, causing debilitating pain and drastically affecting quality of life. New Zealand has one of the highest incidence rates of IBD globally, and for children, managing life with these conditions can be particularly challenging. They face missed school days, frequent hospitalisations, and social isolation as part of their daily reality.

This is where Crohn's & Colitis New Zealand (CCNZ) steps up with Camp Purple Live, an annual summer camp that supports children and teens aged 9 to 17 living with IBD from across New Zealand. For many attendees, this camp offers a life-changing experience filled with opportunities.

Camp Purple Live builds self-confidence, independence, self-esteem, resilience, and empowerment in its participants. For the first time, these kids meet peers who genuinely understand their struggles. They form support networks and lasting friendships, making their journey feel less alone.

Our next camp is scheduled for January 2026 in Christchurch. This camp is entirely free for attendees, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors.

Your contribution, no matter the size, will help us ensure that Camp Purple Live 2026 becomes a reality for these incredible kids.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
