Helping Loine (aka Lynne/Fob/Fobby/Mum) Pakieto rebuild in Niue.
International
On Monday 23 March, Mum lost all her material items in a house fire in Liku, Niue.
Thankfully she is still with us, although she suffered some 1st and 2nd degree burns across her upper back and down her right arm as well as on her face. We managed to fly over to her with some burns recovery creams and gauzes, so her burns recovery is going well.
So now we are looking forward to helping her rebuild her life in her home, Niue, with help from all those who love Mum just as much as us.
We are so grateful to everyone who has offered to help her but as she doesn't have a house or vehicle anymore, those are the priorities to be able for her to have a place to put the kind donations she's already received.
As many of those offering to help are from all around the world, we thought creating this page would offer a solution to ensure Mum gets what she needs most but if you want to help in other ways, maybe you want to come and build or you're a plumber etc, please contact myself Simone Pakieto or Chloe Pakieto via any social media channel.
We've been truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support for Mum so far and we all feel blessed beyond measure so from the bottom of our hearts, fakaue lahi mahaki.
I'm Loine's eldest daughter.
Funds will be used to purchase building materials and to buy a vehicle in New Zealand that will be shipped to Niue for Mum.
Recovery in progress... 20 April 2026
Fakalofa atu to all our family and friends near and far 👋🏼
Firstly apologies for not sending another update sooner but please know your kind words, love and support haven't gone unnoticed or felt!
I'm now back in NZ with access to a stable internet connection 😅 so I'll be able to sort things out quicker for Mum.
It's been almost a month since the fire (3 days from today) and Mum is doing really well! Her healing has come a long way even in the week since I left her thanks to her friends who took over her dressing changes and those that have sent/taken more burns creams and parrafin gauzes over for her. She has a doctors appointment tomorrow so we will see what real medical staff have to say...
Mum's noticed an increase in energy, no longer requiring a nap during the day and since the head nurse/maid/chef (me) has left, she's feeling mobile enough to sweep and do the washing daily. I am worried about her eating though because she doesn't normally prioritize that 🤦🏼. But due to the new routine she's now sleeping through the night which is definitely good for her recovery 😊
This weeks goal is to get Mums car sorted so she isn't feeling reliant on others and can go do the things she needs, when she needs. Although she has many people there willing to help her, we all know how Mum is a fiercely independent woman 💪🏼
I've linked the interview Mum and I did for BCN and attached yesterdays comparative pic so until the next update, love to you all from Mum, Coco and me ❤️
