Help Kirsty get her sons precious cat, Kylo, back on his feet, and potentially help other cat owners who suffer the same terrible situation.
Canterbury
Kylo, the gorgeous 2 year old cat, belonging to an 8 year old boy living in Prebbleton, returned home on Friday morning with his front leg dangling, unable to be used and a bullet lodge in his back. It is thought he had taken 2-3 days to make his way home in this condition.
It appears, according to the vet, that the bullet has hit his leg bone, shattering it and ricocheted across his body to his back leaving shrapnel along the way in his shoulder. Its a miracle Kylo is still alive.
Its hard to believe that there is someone out there that thinks its OK to shoot a cat in an area like Prebbleton and it has now become evident he is not the first pet cat in this area to suffer this fate.
Kylo has spent the weekend on pain killers and contained in a crate, as the vets need to assess the x-rays to formulate a plan on how to mend his shattered leg and remove the bullet and shrapnel.
The vet bills for this surgery and ongoing care are going to be astronomical and an expense that this family with young children simply cannot afford.
I have known Kirsty for over 20 years and know that this incident has happened at a very financially stressful time for her and her young family.
All funds will go towards Kylo's surgery and ongoing care and any excess funds received will go into a fund to help any other cats that are injured in this way in the Prebbleton area as it is apparent that this is not the first cat to have been shot.
Kylo update 26 January 2019
Thanks again everyone for your generous donations. Kylo is continuing to recover really well with his surgical wounds healing really nicely.
He is still confined to a cage the majority of the time
but is allowed out when supervised so he doesn't get his external pin caught on anything....ouch!!
The external pin is due to come out next week and hopefully Kylo will then have a bit more freedom.
He is in really good spirits and has started giving the dog a hard time so he must be feeling better.
