Raising funds for Rodger, 2nd TPLO Cruciate ligament surgery.
Canterbury
We need your help to get Rodger back on his paws!
Rodger has been diagnosed with bilateral cruciate ligament rupture.
He was scheduled to see his referral Vet this month, and suddenly ruptured his next cruciate ligament & meniscus.
Rodger had his first TPLO surgery on 19th June.
In 6-8 weeks, he will have his follow-up x-ray to see if he has healed enough to move on with his next cruciate ligament surgery. . .
TPLO surgery comes at a significant cost (est. $5800) we were prepared for his first surgery - however we are not in the position financially to cover his second surgery. . . We need your help!
$5800 covers consult, pre-surgical x-rays, TPLO, medications, overnight hospital stay, follow-up appointment & final 6-8week x-rays.
We have sold items on Trade-Me to help raise anything we can, also some very kind donations from friends, leaving us approx $3500 short towards his next surgery.
Rodger is 8years old, he originally came to us as a foster from Oamaru in 2017. Rodger never left, he became our permanent family member!
We appreciate your help in getting Rodger back on his paws enjoying life again.

Final update, lines up with Rodgers final check-up 17 October 2025
Hello everyone
Givealittle suggested we post a final update. Perfect timing, Rodger also had his final check-up with Dr Ben on Tuesday.
Here he is pictured sleeping his sedation off at home - he decided to join life again at dinner time, bless his heart!
He enjoyed a nice sedated nap while he had a few x-rays to check on his bone healing.
All is looking as it should be! Technical terms beyond me, but overall his bone is knitting together, plate & screws all were they should be!
Rodger can increase his exercise, but will still be onleash to toilet etc for another 8 weeks, no middle-aged running about just yet.
All in all, positive news!
A final thank you to everyone, your kindness will always be appreciated & remembered x
