Neyo needs a second TPLO surgery, just 8 weeks after his first. Please help us in raising money to give Neyo the best chance at recovery!
Bay of Plenty
Neyo is a chihuahua cross and has been a loving part of our family for almost 4 years. 7 weeks ago Neyo started limping and became lame on his left hind leg. I took him to the vet immediately who diagnosed him with luxating patella. Unfortunately our vet clinic does not preform the surgery required so Neyo was referred to a specialist clinic in Hamilton. The cost for luxating patella surgery was $2500. This was such a shock to me but I knew I did not want my Neyo to suffer so I booked the surgery for the following week.
Before the surgery Neyo had pre op x-rays, the surgeon phoned me straight after the x-rays and advised that Neyo had a completely ruptured cruciate ligament which needed repair. The procedure is called TPLO and was going to cost $4500. I immediately broke down in tears! I knew Neyo needed this procedure but it was also going to take all of my savings to cover the surgery costs. As a single parent to two children not having the security blanket of my small savings was going to take its toll however I made the call almost instantly to get Neyo the treatment he needed.
Over the last week Neyo has begun limping on his good leg and is now completely lame 😒 once again. Further x-rays show he has now ruptured his other cruciate ligament. It is very common for this to happen but I never thought it would be so soon after the first. This is normally a genetic issue in small dogs and breeders should not continue breeding if their dogs suffer from luxating patella and or cruciate ligament ruptures. Unfortunately some breeders do it simply for money and do not have the animals best needs at heart.
Although I work full time, as a single parent with one household income I do not have the funds to cover another surgery and for the financial welfare of my family a loan is not an option at this time. Anybody that knows me knows that I hate asking for help but at this point I need to. Neyo is my best friend, my companion and has helped me through some of my darkest days and I do not want him to be in pain or suffering. To loose Neyo or see him suffer would be heart wrenching for my children and I. Any donation no matter how small will help us give Neyo the care he needs and deserves.
Neyo loves to run, go for walks and play, at the moment he can not do any activity. I can't wait to see him healed and running around again with his adorable bubbly personality.
Funds are to cover a second TPLO/Luxating Patella surgery for Neyo. He recently had one that I paid for but I can not cover another $4500, I simply do not have it. Any extra raised will go towards further care, post op treatment, x-rays and medication.
Neyo’s Surgery 20 April 2021
Neyo had his second surgery yesterday. We picked him up this morning. He is not happy, he cried all the way home and would not sit anywhere but my lap. He is agitated and uncomfortable but hoping he will calm down over the next few hours. A huge thank you to everyone who donated. We would not have been able to do this without you all, every single $1 raised was a massive help to my family. We are forever grateful and I know Neyo will be in about 12 weeks as well xx
You are so very kind 💙 Recovery is slow and definitely a stressful time but we have done it before and will do it again. So blessed to have so much support!
