Lets help fund Rika to get life changing treatment, so she can get back on her feet after a devastating car accident.

Late on September 24th 2020 in only a few seconds, our beloved Hair Fairy, Rika's life changed forever.
Rika has been driving around our community since 2016 in her trusty white van that we all had come affectionally recognise, reaching people who find it hard to leave home to give them a hair cut and brighten their day.
On returning home to Tarras from Hawea the unthinkable happened. Rika, along with her beloved border Collie Tika, ended up 7m down a bank in her trusty mobile hair salon van, totally unrecognisable. The van had flipped and rolled several times and landed on its side. Thank goodness Rika and Tika were alive, but Rika has suffered long term health problems since the accident; concussion, severe whip lash, neck sprain amongst other things.
A year on Rika is still hugely unwell and is suffering from chronic pain in her neck rendering her unable to work, or have any quality of life. There was hope when ACC funded some treatments in the form of injections in her neck that provided short term pain relief. There was a light at the end of this dark tunnel.
The next step was to get a procedure done to her neck that would promise permanent relief for her chronic pain, allowing the fun and bubbly Rika to get on with her life. ACC has pulled the rug out from her, declining to pay for this treatment, leaving poor Rika a mess, with no other options than to fight ACC in court or fund the treatment herself. She has chosen to try and fun the treatment instead of giving money to lawyers fighting in court.
We are asking for a little help to fund this life changing treatment for our beloved Hair Fairy, so she can get on with her life. If you know her, you will agree that she is the kindest, loveliest person who is always helping out her community. It is time for us to give back to Rika and Jan to help them get their lives back.
Rika has cut my families hair for the past 5 years, including my young sons who were too nervous to go to a hairdresser in town. Our sons love Rika and it is such a treat having her come in her van to our front door to cut our hair.
The money will be spent on medical treatment (Thermal Radio-Frequency Neurotomy) for Rika's nerves in her neck which is causing her chronic pain, rendering her unable to work or have any quality of life.
