Help! Someone kicked my cat in the head. I need to raise any amount of money for my cats broken jaw.

Waikato

Hi my name is Steph and I’ve set up this cause for my beloved cat, Phoenix. She’s my alternative to a child 🙃.

She’s a lovely cat but needs your help.

Over the weekend, I found Phoenix hunched over outside after what I initially thought she’d been hit by a car, responsive but not able to move well and very upset, I took her to Cambridge Vets as it was a Sunday and my Vet wasn’t open. They decided after an X-ray, that there had been trauma and impact to her head.

But on second visit to my own Vet, 3 Stone Vet, Te Awamutu the following morning, they also said that Phoenix’s jaw is either fractured or dislocated. My cat needs this corrected so that she can eat (on her own) and carry on. Everything else has checked out. No internal injuries or broken bones anywhere else. Her bloods came back normal. So it is just her head.

I am having to syringe Phoenix at the moment at 5x 20ml feeds per day but, I am going to try and get her to eat of her own and she seems to be opening her jaw and drinking lots and lots of water without any trouble. She’s definitely hungry and follows you to the kitchen at meal times, but will only sniff her food and wait to be force fed which she has become adjusted too. But I don’t want her to get use to relying on me to syringe her when I’m confident, as it stands, she can lick liquid food on her own. I’m certain it is a confidence thing and possibly the meds she is on. But yeah, would be far better to have her eating on her own.

Anyway, I am now struggling to come up with part of the funds for her next part of her treatment, my pockets are bursting at the seams. I’m going to start rallying offline this wknd with different ideas.

Please, if you can spare a gold coin or 2 that would mean the world to us. I understand that times are tough but I am hoping people can dig around and find any small amount to chip in.

My cat is my best mate, she’s like a loyal dog who is such a dag. But we all say that about our pets huh?!

So far my Vet bill (which I have paid) as of Sunday 10th 2021 has cost me $972 but I have paid for that.

Where I am struggling is, for her next visit/s to the Vets on Monday 18th Jan with the Specialist and also I need to have a cat scan to determine if she has fractured or dislocated the jaw - which alone will cost $800, NOT including the actual Jaw fixing. That’s another cost on top. I know it sounds like a lot to put a cat through, but it’s not. Not when she’s otherwise good.

Because Phoenix had all her teeth out recently, the Vet has now referred us to a specialist dentist to get advice to how we can fix her broken/ dislocated jaw which normally requires teeth for the wiring. So as the days go on, I will add photos as the paper work comes through.

Anything is very hugely appreciated.

Yours sincerely Steph

Overwhelmed with Donations  17 January 2021

Hi everybody! I am so so grateful for all your kindness and donations. It’s absolutely amazing. It’s been tiring days and nights of monitoring her and feeding her but worth it because she’s improving each day.

Phoenix turned a corner last night and has now started to eat food on her own. Only very soft food but I’m over the moon about that. We has another visit to see the Dentist Specialist tomorrow so I’m positive about that.

Phoenix is still very clingy and sore and her self confidence is still down but the main thing is, she’s improving.

So thank you again everyone You guys are amazing. And I’ll pay it forward by donating to other animals in need on here after i get through this :)
