Help Selim to go back home

$40,920 of $60,000 goal
Given by 826 generous donors in 5 weeks

Selim had a serious accident and sustained a spinal cord injury. We need your help to fund his repatriation to France where his family is.

Selim is a 26-year-old french man who had a serious accident 3 weeks ago in New Zealand while he was in the Northland doing sand surfing. He broke one of his vertebrae (T11) and sustained a spinal cord injury. After a 7-hour-surgery in Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, he has been told by the medical team that he would not be able to use his lower limbs anymore.

Selim was an active young man, he loved hiking and exploring. For the last two years Selim has been travelling around beautiful New Zealand and wouldn’t have imagined in a million years that his amazing trip would have ended that way. :(

At the moment, Selim is still an inpatient in Auckland and is struggling keeping his mood up far from his family. He is waiting for his repatriation to France, where he will be able to start his long rehab journey and maximize his chance to recover from this tragic event.

That’s why we need to get him home as soon as possible! His family and friends are very worried and can’t wait to have him back home to best support him.

But due to the nature of his serious injury, he will need a medical team to oversee the trip, which is very expensive : it will cost 60,000$!

We won’t be helped by any insurance so we need your precious help and support to pull together this crazy amount of money and get him home as safe as possible. Even a small donation is already very helpful for us!

Please help him to get home safe to his family and friends, send him all the good vibes and thoughts you can and share his story widely.

Selim and his family are beyond grateful for your support!! :)

(For our friends in Europe, 10 NZ$ = 5,8€)

Thank you from Selim!  17 October 2021

Hi beautiful people :)

It's been 3 months now since the accident and it's still a long journey ahead. But today I finally take time to thank you all from the heart. ❤

You are beautiful souls and I couldn't have wished for such a mobilization! Plus I've been really touched by all your messages of encouragement and support and it helped me a lot during those challenging times.

Thanks to you I managed to get back home mid-august and since then I'm doing my rehab, slowly rebuilding myself and regaining autonomy. I would have loved to come back to you with some success stories but so far I didn't get any significant improvements. I'm not out of it though :)

For those who want to keep track on my improvements, I'll try to give some updates on Instagram or Facebook from time to time if any !

I wish you all to enjoy life to the full cause we never know what tomorrow brings. Love you all xx Take care ! 😘

I am Canadian and recently in a serious accident in Australia. With no immediate family for care and support, the Aussies have rallied behind me with both . For this kindness and generosity, I will always be grateful . A little to pay their love forward
