Help SPELD NZ fundraise to provide services for children/adults with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)
Nationwide
Imagine negotiating your way through life without being able to read or do maths! Every day, SPELD NZ is inundated with calls and emails from distressed parents/whanau desperate for help. The pressure on our services has increased exponentially due to the growing awareness in dyslexia/SLD. We need more funding to reach more children and adults in need, especially those in financial hardship.
Without literacy and numeracy skills, employment and life choices can be limited. No matter how hard these students try, without appropriate intervention, they often face ongoing failure which can have a devastating effect on their confidence, self-esteem and life choices.
Research endorsed by the University of Auckland shows SPELD NZ intervention can have a dramatic impact on a child’s ability to learn. Our assessment and tuition can transform lives. SPELD NZ students realise they are not “stupid, lazy or dumb”, as they are often labelled. They learn to recognise their talents and develop self-belief.

SPELD NZ is a not-for-profit charity. For more than 50 years, we have provided one-on-one diagnostic assessment and tuition for children and adults. We also train assessors, teachers, other educators and whanau and provide advice, support and advocacy for those with learning difficulties. Our philosophy is that no child or adult should miss out on our support because they can’t afford it. We are constantly fundraising to help subsidise our services for those on low incomes.
Providing diagnostic assessment, individualised tuition, training and support services nationwide.
