Supporting Liberty’s recovery after being hit by a truck — help us with food, travel, and counselling for her and our whānau.
Hamilton, Waikato
Kia ora,
On Tuesday, our beloved Liberty was hit by a truck and is now facing a long road to recovery. We’re praising God that she is alive and that her brain is undamaged. We’ve been overwhelmed by the love and messages of support from friends and whānau asking how they can help. With such a big household, it’s a lot to ask people to cook meals — so we thought this would be a more practical way to offer support.
We’re a large family of seven siblings (plus partners and kids), and right now our focus is on being there for Liberty every step of the way. Many of us are students, and our mum — a solo parent — will be unable to work for the next 4–6 months while caring for Liberty full-time. We’re reaching out for support during this time.
Your support will go directly toward:
Groceries for our household of 12+, with funds going straight onto supermarket gift cards to help feed everyone during this time.
Transport and parking for hospital visits (up to $30/day across three cars), and bus fares for siblings travelling from Auckland to see Liberty on weekends.
Family counselling, to help us come together and support Liberty as a strong, united whānau.
Anything left over will be gifted directly to Liberty to help her stay comfortable and cared for throughout her 12–18 month recovery journey.
Thank you for standing with us during this time. Every bit helps and means more than we can express.
Arohanui,
Lydia and all of Liberty’s whānau
The money will be spent on food for our large whānau, transport to hospital, family counselling, and supporting Liberty’s recovery needs.
