Rotorua East Lions are supporting Tatau Pounamu to meet urgent whanau needs as they emerge during Covid-19. We need your help to do more.
Bay of Plenty
The Tatau Pounamu Collective is a community collective of stakeholders using environmental and health initiatives to engage with the Rotorua Eastside community. working towards a vision for Eastside Rotorua to be a safe place where every tamaiti (child) reaches their potential.
This has enabled Tatau Pounamu to respond quickly to the needs of our community due to Covid-19. For example, during Covid-19, our Piripoho Service delivered 194 kai packages in the first week. This helped us identify other immediate needs for whanau in our community. e.g. tamariki activity packs, winter warmth items, phone & data top-ups, cellphones for access to social and medical support especially for elderly. Over 240 tamariki packs have been delivered. More packs are needed.
Other needs continue to emerge. Rotorua East Lions Club donated $3000 to Tatau Pounamu at at the beginning of the Covid-19 community response. This was matched by a further $3000 each donated by the Lions District 202L Banking Trust and from the Lloyd Morgan Lions Clubs Charitable Trust. More donations are needed, every little bit helps.
The whakaaro (plan) behind the Tatau Pounamu Collective mahi (work) comes from a community-led approach that supports many people and organisations to work together towards a shared vision.
