Please join JustSpeak in working to create a thriving Aotearoa with a fair and equitable justice system.
JustSpeak’s vision is for a thriving Aotearoa with a fair and equitable justice system.
Successive governments have adopted ‘tough on crime’ approaches to harm that occurs in our communities, and this rhetoric is often perpetuated by the media.
As a result, public opinion on how we should approach this issue as a nation is often driven by fear, rather than facts. In response, governments introduce increasingly punitive policies, and focus resources on prisons and punishment. This approach is expensive, and unfortunately, ineffective.
JustSpeak exists to put social wellbeing at the heart of our justice system.
This means we challenge governments to create legislation and policy which is based on good evidence, and to direct resources towards resolving the complex issues that lead to offending.
We use evidence-based information and original research to help shift public opinion away from punitive approaches, and towards preventative and restorative approaches that actually work to reduce harm.
We advocate for voices of lived experience to be at the centre of the justice conversation, to provide crucial insights and lead to more equitable justice solutions.
We invest in the capacity, skills, and knowledge of the justice movement, laying strong foundations for the next generation of justice leaders.
For the past 15 years, JustSpeak has been an essential voice for change in the justice sector. Will you donate to and share our campaign to ensure our operations can continue in 2026?
JustSpeak has a vision for a thriving Aotearoa with a fair and equitable justice system. We advocate for a justice sector that prioritises prevention and healing, and legislation and policy which is based on good evidence. We are guided by the wisdom of tangata whenua.
We are turning to the public to partner with us to ensure our operations can continue in 2026, to support the important campaigns we have planned.
